Throughout human history, no one has fought like women have fought.
And yet, we still measure strength and resilience through phrases like “be a man”, “man up”, or “fight like a man.“
We thought we’d show a little something different.
This graphic features some of the heroines of our time. From athletes to activists, these women stood up when standing meant pain, they achieved the impossible, they set an example for those around them, at great personal sacrifice.
The women you see are the mothers and grandmothers of the Plaza De Mayo, who chose to walk in protest demanding the return of the disappeared, even though the military dictatorship had strictly outlawed protests. They chose to stand up to a regime that had disappeared over 30,000 people, who ruled through fear and violence. And yet, these women found the strength to take to the streets anyway.
And so, in their honor, in honor of all the women listed, and the countless others who deserve to be on this list, we proudly say:
Fight like a girl.
